Mission

As a faith community, the mission of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is the integral formation of the entire Christian youth - mind, body and spirit. Catholic schools of Texas call young people to holiness and prepare them to live and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In collaboration with families, Catholic schools teach the values of our faith and tradition, foster experiences of community and service, and provide educational excellence. Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston are committed to the evangelizing mission of the Church to educate and form the whole person in mind, heart and spirit.

Call to Action

Let us go now and live the day, and do what we can for the glory of God.

Vision Statement

Making leaders for tomorrow: Faith, Academics and Service.

Philosophy

We believe that by beginning each school day together at assembly, we can build healthy relationships between students of various grades as well as with faculty and staff. During morning assembly, we share announcements, say prayers and the pledge of allegiance, and discuss hot topics (from how to be a true friend to rooting on Houston’s sports teams.) Morning assembly is a time to gather together.

"We chose St. Rose for our daughter for elementary when we realized after pre-K that the faith-based atmosphere was so important to us. We simply couldn't imagine not starting the day with prayer every day!" - Amy Shaughnessy, parent

The purpose of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is to embrace the belief that each child is unique and will flourish academically, socially, emotionally and physically in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Lifelong learners will be developed at St. Rose through high expectations, religious education, innovative teaching practices and challenging opportunities for all.

Catholic School Identity

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is an educational ministry of St. Rose of Lima Parish Community and part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston school system. Our school was founded on the principals of the Catholic faith and under the direction of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, began educating the children of our parish in 1948.

We believe in incorporating our Catholic faith into all aspects of our education, beginning each with morning assembly and prayer. Each week we attend Mass on Thursdays, led by one of our classes, who accepts the roles of both the choir and lectors. Our youngest students benefit from our Mass buddy program, in which older students are paired up with those still learning about Mass behavior and expectations. Mass buddies provide an example of reverence as well as forming bonds between our students.

Religion is taught daily in the classroom by our teaching staff, who are currently enrolled to receive their catechesis certification. In addition to the religious curriculum set forth by the Archdiocese, St. Rose teachers integrate faith into academic and ancillary lessons. By incorporating the Catholic faith across all disciplines, we believe students learn that their faith should guide all that they do.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School welcomes all students, both Catholic and non-Catholic. We welcome you to apply to join our classrooms as we celebrate our faith every day!
